GEA Levati Food Tech supplies process equipment and complete processing lines for the production of vegetable flakes. The mashed vegetables are transferred to the drum dryer by a special pump to avoid cell breakage. The upper screw helps the distribution of puree onto the drum surface. Six application rollers evenly spread the mashed vegetables in a thin layer around the drum dryer.
The heat, developed by steam, dries the mashed vegetables. The operator helps the puree to spread. The perfect dosage of additives, and the drying action, allows the detachment of the dry film from the drum dryer. The puree that is not spread onto the drum is recovered by the wet-waste recovering screw. Defective vegetables do not stick onto the drum surface and are recovered in the dry-waste evacuation screw.
- Drying
The dryer is supplied with:
- fume recovering hood;
- operator food-path;
- screw-conveyors to recover the waste.
- Flaking
Flaking is obtained in the hammer mill. Flaking is the core phase of the process that assures the flakes are correctly sized avoiding or minimizing the formation of dust. The flakes are collected in the lower hopper and then conveyed by a gentle screw-conveyor to the fabric buffer or to the packaging system.
- Packaging
Flakes are normally packed in bags or in pouches. Packaging in Big-Bags is also available.
